About Vintner Meghan Vergara

Meghan began her wine journey falling in love with wine at a young age and becoming a Certified Sommelier while living in NYC. Realizing this was only the beginning, she moved to Napa Valley to immerse herself in hands on experiences and to learn more about wine production, where her path in wine thrived. After moving away to Southern California to start her family, she quickly saw the opportunity to begin her business, Veritas Consultants, offering Wine Events, Education & Consulting for wine brands in the digital space. As this grew more successful, she realized it was time to stop waiting and build the dream of becoming a Vintner herself, which had always been something that seemed unattainable. With the help of some wonderful friends in the wine business and huge amounts of determination she was able to achieve her life long dream of moving back to wine country and to start making wine. Everything that goes into M is fueled with passion, dedication, and the stuff of dreams. We hope you enjoy.

Wine Production

This intentionally made Rosé of Pinot Noir was grown, harvested and vinified with the express goal of producing a thoughtful and elegant wine that is a true expression of place. An elevated Rosé experience that speaks to Meghan’s love of world class Provencal wines combined with a great admiration for the revered Russian River Valley. Using pristine Pinot Noir from a legendary vineyard source with a mission to showcase a great California Rosé, Meghan realized a life-long dream to take her knowledge in wine and craft something truly special in M Rosé.

A stone’s throw from the banks of the Russian River, perfectly ripe Clone 667 Pinot Noir grapes are hand harvested in the cool of pre-dawn late-August, off the gently sloping alluvial plain of Bacigalupi’s Frost Ranch, then carefully sorted and delicately pressed. Commencing a ‘low & slow’ fermentation in stainless steel, the bright acidity and phenolic zest is preserved with sub-60°F temps and gentle 1° brix drop per day in its three-week journey. Dry, sumptuous, and electric, the base rosé is elevated in neutral French oak barrels for six months, its complexity building each day. Bottled at peak maturity, M Vino Rosé delivers the freshness of the nearby Pacific, accented by the sophistication of a legacy grape grower in the Russian River Valley.

The Bacigalupi Vineyard

This historic and beautiful site sits off of West Side Road just outside of the charming Sonoma town of Healdsburg. The vineyard is famous for its role in providing 40% of the Chardonnay to the winning Chateau Montelena in the 1976 Judgement of Paris!

This women led family vineyard works to provide heralded wineries like Williams Selyam, Gary Farrell and Rochioli world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and it’s honor to be one of the only Rosé producers able to use this fruit in this sought after Russian River Valley location!

for us wine geeks

As a Sommelier, consultant, wine judge, wine article author, wine buyer and more – detail to attention and thoughtfully crafted wines mean everything to M. Part of the inspiration for making this Rosé was a realization after one too many trade tastings that the market needed two things:

1. More high acid wines that are crafted at the highest levels
2. Better Rosé

Rosé is often a quickly produced after thought for American wineries. Not a lot of intentionality goes into them and many times they are just bled off from something that is on its way to become a red wine (Saignée). We began to wonder why more Rosé wasn’t made intentionally to be a great wine. So we set out to find outstanding fruit, a world class winemaker and a winemaking facility that would produce this wines at the highest levels. As if it were an expensive Chardonnay or Pinot Noir. It must be meant to be because we did!

Sustainability

At M Rosé we endeavor to make our wines as sustainably as possible by:

This is just the beginning for us though, we intend to grow our sustainable efforts to include more green purchasing & sourcing of materials, to selling more wine locally which further reduces carbon footprint, to looking into 100% recycled glass to even figuring out new ways to wash & reuse our glass bottles!
